Pie Jesu from Gabriel Faure's Requiem, as arranged by Bruce Behnke is performed here by the Saint Xavier University Flute Choir, Martha M. Morris, Director. Members of the ensemble include: Mary Kavanaugh (piccolo/C flute), Rebekah Roberts (C flute), Carrie Church (C flute), Debbie Kruizenga (alto flute/C flute), Beth Aldworth (bass flute/C flute), Christine Otrembiak (C flute/Bass flute), Alice Synder (C flute), Rebecca Weisenritter (C flute) One of the most beautiful requiems ever written, Fauré's musical mass for the dead enjoys enormous popularity with sacred choirs and orchestras. The fifth section, Pie Jesu, originally written for a solo voice with accompaniment, translates from the latin to "Merciful Lord Jesus, grant them rest, rest everlasting." Bruce Behnke is a 1972 graduate of Michigan State University and holds a Master's degree from Saginaw Valley State University. He currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he teaches elementary vocal music for the Clark County School District.
