A cozy little drive day to Obuse(小布施) — because this is Zaw’s favourite CHESTNUT TOWN 🌰🥹 Hidden in Nagano, Obuse is a small historic town that has been cultivating chestnuts since the Edo period. When autumn arrives, the whole town slows down — chestnut trees, old wooden houses, dessert shops, and that calm countryside rhythm 🍂🍁 Obuse isn’t just about sweets — it’s also deeply cultural. We passed by the Hokusai-kan Museum, a cultural landmark dedicated to ukiyo-e master Katsushika Hokusai, who spent his later years right here in this town 👹 Walking around, it really feels like art, history, and daily life are gently blended together. Of course… we came with a mission!! We stopped at Chikufūdō Obuse Main Store, the go-to spot for traditional chestnut souvenirs — famous for their Kuri-kanoko (sweet chestnut paste) and comforting chestnut rice 🍚🌰 Every shelf felt like autumn in a box. And then… the highlight of the day 🍰✨ We finally sat down at Obusedo Main Store, known for serving some of the most sought-after Mont Blanc desserts in Japan. Their seasonal “Suzaku” chestnut puree (朱雀) is made with freshly pressed chestnuts — simple, delicate, and absolutely worth the drive 🤎🥹 No rushing. No big city noise. Just slow walking, warm desserts, and quiet moments together. Obuse really is one of those places that reminds you how beautiful slow Japan can be ☁️🍁 📍 The Hokusai-kan Museum北斎館 https://share.google/I3lPL4z1ttsnPiBjH 📍 Chikufūdō; Obuse Main Store竹风堂 https://share.google/OvEFn5JCUtF6F5aly 📍 Obusedo 小布施堂 本店 https://share.google/0TT0DWsZdnNaSKEb5
