NEW VIDEO EVERY WEDNESDAY & SUNDAY! Cover #56. Another one of my favorites, and a tune I've been wanting to cover for a long time. The energy of this tune is incredible, and the feeling of it being just an awesome jam especially with that extended solo-section is awesome. Just love what these guys are doing here. The solo-section however was something keeping me back from covering this tune for quite some time. It's A LOT to memorize, which is a really fun challenge, but makes it rather tricky! To catch that live-vibe is also rather difficult when playing to a track. I There are a couple of things that are a bit off, but considering there's 2 minutes of continuous crescendo paradiddle-improvisation, I believe it turned out alright! And for those of you who don't know how to implement your Paradiddles to your playing, here's a couple of examples! Also a great little study of how to build and back a solo. Just love this tune. Incredibly fun to play, though I had to focus a bit more than usual due to the massive amount of varying parts! And for that reason, it's one of the trickiest covers I've done so far. Super fun! The verse groove is pretty cool and quite different. There's two ways of playing it I'd say, either the way I'm doing it for this cover (based on hand-to-hand 16th notes) which is the way I believe José initially played it. The alternative would be playing everything that's being played on the snare drum with your left hand (ghost notes & accents) - It's very much possible especially as there's never more than two 16th-notes in succession. It's good to be able to play it both ways for sure! In addition, I chose to base parts of the drums on how José's playing it live as the pre-chorus has a massive amount of reverb on it and what I believe to be layered drums. I chose to go with a mix of what I hear on the record and what he's playing live; trying to keep the quarter notes on the ride but still having the sixteenth's on the snare.
