Sharpness/detail settings on cameras have been the bane of my production life since the very beginning. Even now, cameras come set too high out of the box, and contrary to what you might think, such settings don't actually add any real detail or sharpness. It's an effect that is killing your recording codec. Particularly on a small camera like a GoPro. Here's an illustration of what digital sharpening in-camera does, and why it puts pressure on the codec, and why you should add sharpness back in during post production instead. #gopro #camerasettings #goprosettings #pictureprofile
