The second part of Dr. Ghasemzadeh's lecture, CEO of Afranet in Farabourse Ceremony. Afranet is the first Iranian private IT company in Farabourse. Dr. Ghasemzadeh talks about the statistics of digital world and social media and elaborates for investors on the potential of IT. Here is the content of the speech in more detail: Dr. Ghasemzadeh explains the number of people and devices that are connected to the internet: 1.7 Billion people and 17 Billion devices. IT is less known to investors in Iran compared to other industries such as Steel or Cement because the number of IT companies in capital market is limited. When it comes to the US, each American is connected to 264 devices. In each five seconds: 5 iPhones is sold, 500 people register for World of Warcraft Massive Multiplayer Online Game, 5000 videos are being uploaded on YouTube, 50000 Google Searches are made. The energy spent for number of searches conducted on Google in 10 minutes could power Las Vegas, the brightest city in the world, for a half hour! If Facebook was a country, Facebook with more than 350 Million people was the third larges country in the world. Obviously Facebook population is much more right now. In Germany they asked a group of teens (19-20) which one they prefer, not having a car for a day or internet and 84% answered internet. Dr. Ghasemzadeh explains about an exhibits he participated where one of Intel executives gave a presentation. Intel should monitor the trends very closely as they are the leader and whether if the servers are growing or clients they go to Intel. 1 Million PCs are sold each day. 1995, on average people in the world should have spent their salary of 25 weeks to purchase a PC. Today, this number is 4 weeks. You can purchase a PC with salary of 4 weeks working. This stat is similar in Iran as well and is close to its international number. That's one of the reasons IT growth has been accelerating. The chip-sets are getting closer to human brain that has 100 million neurons. Dr. Ghasemzadeh concludes the speed production, broadcast and learning of information has been dramatically increased. In 2000, 70% of computer holders were companies vs. 30% people. Today, this is the opposite. 70% of computers belong to people vs. 30% to companies. He talks about an interesting correlation between GDP changes and IT industry. When there is not a recession, IT performs well. When there is a recession, IT performs better. So IT is the solution in every situation. As an example, there are a lot of pollution and road accidents in Iran. Well, the solution is IT. The 20 top companies in the world from Market Cap point of view, 7 of them are IT companies. So, knowledge-base companies are going to progress no matter what. Dr. Ghasemzadeh, elaborates on IT and ICT. ICT is a combination of IT and CT. IT is information technologies such as internet companies. CT is communication technologies such as operators. Afranet is not a CT company but is an IT company. In IT the closest other companies are "Khadamat Anformatic", "Dade Pardazi" and "Tejarat Electronic Parsian". He explains this to compare P/E to other similar companies in the industry.
