Artists: Eric Sahlström, Gösta Sandström Instrument: Nyckelharpa Title translates to 'The Nixie and Shoe-Ella' Ella is mythical swedish woman known from stories around 1400-1500 and was said to be more evil than the devil himself, she's called Shoe-Ella because the devil gave her shoes after she completed a mission for him. Here's a painting from 1487 showing the devil handing her the shoes using a long pole, as he did not dare to go near her: http://www.dannemorabygden.se/skoell8... As for the story behind this tune and her connection to the Nixie i dont know and havent been able to find anything about it. The Nixie is known for being a excellent violin player and there are various folk songs in Norway and Sweden said to be composed by it.
