In simple terms imitation means copying. Imitation is an important aspect in developing various skills, because it allows a child to learn new things quickly and efficiently by watching others. Most children learn everything from gross motor movements, fine motor movements, to speech, to interactive play skills etc by watching their parents, caregivers, siblings, and peers and perform these behaviors. At Centre for Special Education Allahabad, we introduce Gross motor imitation from very beginning. Gross motor movements involves movements and coordination of big bones and big muscles. Try to focus on one imitation at a time. Try to repeat it as much as possible.
