Gare de Blois-Chambord is located on the territory of the town of Blois, about twenty kilometers from Chambord, in the department of Loir-et-Cher, in the Center-Val de Loire region. It is a station of the French National Railway Company (SNCF), served by 100% Eco, Interloire and TER Center-Loire Valley Intercity trains. A first station, called a pier, was built in Blois in 1847, shortly after the opening of the railway between Tours and Orleans in 1846. The opening of the Vendôme and Romorantin lines will saturate the installation. The building was destroyed in 1892. The new station was built slightly downstream from the line. The works lasted from 1890 to 1893 and the new station then cut the avenue de l'Embarcadère (today avenue du Docteur-Jean-Laigret). New roads (overpass to the railway, avenue Gambetta) are built to bypass the now more imposing building. The district is therefore restructured: buildings and industrial buildings (including the Poulain chocolate factory) are being built near the new station. In 1938, the line from Paris to Bordeaux was electrified in 1,500 V DC. In the mid-1990s, the postal sorting center juxtaposed with the station was destroyed and gave way to a parking lot. The footbridge overhanging the tracks since 2015. In 2002, the station was served by a TGV Tours - Roissy but the relationship was suspended a few months later, due to lack of traffic with an average of 20 daily travelers. Until December 2013, it was served by the Elipsos hotel-train running between Paris and Madrid. On June 12, 2015, a footbridge overhanging the tracks was inaugurated to allow users to conveniently cross the station and access the platforms intended for travelers. Its construction lasted from January to December 2014. In 2016, according to SNCF estimates, the annual frequentation of the station is 1,466,599 passengers, this number having risen to 1,510,967 in 2015 and 1,530,279 in 2014
