Step into the hidden world behind the masks and explore what it truly means to bring life to a galaxy far, far away—through sweat, movement, and unwavering focus. Join me for an unforgettable conversation with Dmitriy Karas @dmitriykaras9703 , a true unsung hero of the Star Wars universe. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just curious about the craft, you'll love discovering what it takes to perform in those iconic costumes—from stormtroopers to aliens. Meet Dmitriy Karas - IG: @i_dkaras A Ukrainian-born stuntman, actor, and creature performer, Dmitriy is a staple of the Star Wars series. He's portrayed a staggering variety of roles across Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi‑Wan Kenobi From the Stormtrooper who infamously shot Grogu to Night Troopers, Shoretroopers, Tusken Raiders, Mimbans, Trandoshans, and more—he mastered them all. On Screen & Beyond In The Mandalorian (2019–2023), Dmitriy brought to life multiple characters: Plazir‑15 Sullustan, Pointy‑Chin alien, Coruscant Mimban, Stormtrooper, Red Mimbanese, and Tusken Raider over 11 episodes. He reprised roles such as Night Trooper, Guard, and Gotal in Ahsoka (2023), contributing both as a background actor and stunt performer. In The Book of Boba Fett (2021–2022), he stepped into the boots of both a Pyke Syndicate Guard and a fearsome Tusken Raider. What It’s Like to Perform in Costumes Imagine acting and doing stunts—sometimes in blistering heat or confined space—while wearing full stormtrooper armor or alien prosthetics: breathless, disorienting, and relentless. But therein lies the magic. Every tilt of the head, every step, communicates beyond words—physical storytelling at its most primal. Dmitriy opens up about the training, the choreography, and what drives him to stay sharp and continue pushing boundaries, even when he can’t be seen under layers of fabric and foam. Expect in this Interview: Personal stories from behind the helmet—from stumbling in Tusken Raider digs to choreographing fight scenes as a Night Trooper. Insights into balancing character, safety, and physicality in demanding costumes. The dedication required to represent a dozen+ distinct creatures and roles, night after night—and still keep the passion burning bright. Whether you’ve always wondered what it takes to play multiple Star Wars characters—or just love seeing the galaxy from an actor’s lens—this interview offers a rare peek behind the scenes.
