Built in 1950, N&W 611 was one of 14 J class 4-8-4 steam locomotives built for the Norfolk and Western Railway. These handsome stream-liners were the pride of the fleet and were assigned to passenger service across their system. The Cavalier serviced cities along it's route between Norfolk, VA and Cincinnati, OH. On the weekend of June 13, this train was reenacted between Lynchburg and Petersburg, VA with the newly restored J Class 611 in charge. Throughout the video, it is seen passing a few of the original N&W CPL signals. These will soon be replaced by the new Safetran signals. It was a blast chasing this piece of history, exploring the line and surrounding area and meeting a few fellow railfans. Enjoy and please comment, rate and subscribe!
