This is one for the books ladies and gentlemen. What we have here is a large 1/18 scale Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham by Model Car Group. My intention was to do an unboxing video for both this car and another large scale model I got for my birthday. Well, it didn't go to plan, as you learn the whys and wherefores in the video. All Cadillac models for 1982 were equipped with the new that year HT4100 V8 displacing 4.1 liters (250 CID) and featuring digital fuel injection. It was in reality simple throttle body injection similar to what had been on the 1980-1981 6.0 liter (368 CID) V8. The 4.1 liter proved a problem almost from the beginning. Sealing problems between the intake and heads, and the head gaskets between the iron heads and aluminum block would fail and allow coolant to mix with the oil and create incredible carnage. The engine only made 130HP to haul around 4200lbs of Cadillac luxury. It produced so little vacuum an engine driven vacuum pump was need to supplement the vacuum supply for the power brakes and other vacuum powered accessories, adding more burden to an already over-burdened engine. In the rear-wheel drive Cadillacs the differential held 3.42 ratio gears to aid in acceleration.
