General Dynamics Land Systems and its employees’ union entered into a collective-bargaining agreement that eliminated retiree healthcare benefits for anyone under fifty years of age. Cline, and several other employees, who were between the ages of forty and forty-nine, sued General Dynamics for violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, or the ADEA, which protects workers between the ages of forty and sixty-five from age discrimination.
