Here I bring you a new project that is making me spend hours in front of computer... The most rare, unusual, anti-aesthetic, catastrophic, unique and mysterious vehicle I've never heard of. I'm trying tho introduce the "Antarctic Cruiser" also called The Penguin, Penguin 1 and Turtle. This exploration vehicle was made between 1937 and 1939 in Chicago and was designed by Thomas Poulter. Here some technical specification and details: Length: 55 feet 9 inches (17.0 metres) Width: 19 feet 11 inches (6.06 meters) Weight: 75,000 lb (34 tonnes) Maximum Speed: 30 mph (48 km/h) with 2 Electric Diesel engines Tires: 10 feet (3 meters) including two spare tires for replacement Crew Size: 5 people Estimated Cost: $300,000 ($5.8 million today) Add-ons: Two wings plane, tools and daily living utilities Yes this is a huge monster! The main objective of this vehicle was scientific research in the South Pole thats why was called Antarctic Cruiser. The arrival day was about to fell in the ocean when it was unloaded from the ship, this was not the first issue experienced by the Penguin... after 92 miles (148 km) of trek Snow Cruiser got stuck due lack of traction... and here comes the mysterious and fascinating thing... after that, the Penguin was abandoned and after decades it was covered by snow till was missing, nowadays it still.
