From the Vault: French FAMAS Rifle

Keith Ford and Paul Levy from Brownells are back at Rock Island Auctions to show us a rare French FAMAS rifle. The "Fusil d'Assaut de la Manufacture d'Armes de Saint-Étienne" served as the French military's standard service rifle from the 1970s until just recently. Still a futuristic-looking bullpup rifle, the FAMAS has a unique lever delayed blowback action, a built-in bipod, and a trigger-style charging handle up top (like early AR-15s) under the oversized carry handle. Paul and Keith give us the all scoobies about this unique weapon. If you want one, though, be prepared: only a few hundred semi-auto FAMASes were imported into the U.S., most of them like the RIA example by Century Arms (as the "MAS .223"), and they go for crazy money these days!
