Today is Skyline's 2-Year Anniversary of its official opening to the public! To celebrate, have a small recording of part of Segment 1. Can't wait to see the completion of Segment 2, which I hope will bring in increased ridership among travelers and locals alike, as well as seeing what bus routes will be changed or added. As one who appreciates the use of public transit, I know I'll continue to support Skyline and TheBus as their systems continue to work with each other and hope the public opinion on Skyline changes for the better as Segment 2 opens, at least in terms of usefulness. Honolulu Skyline Rail Westbound to Halawa Aloha Stadium, Train 07. Video covers stops from Pouhala Waipahu TC to Halawa Aloha Stadium. Skyline is the rail service planned and constructed by the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transit, or HART. Skyline runs fully above grade level, save for one station. The rail also uses platform screen doors and driverless trains, the first metro system in the United States of its size to use both. Bus routes have been added or altered to better integrate Skyline with TheBus. Many existing routes, both main and circulators, have been given a terminus at or pass by a Skyline Station(s). The full route of the rail was planned to run from East Kapolei to Ala Moana Center, but as of now, it only serves until Aloha Stadium, called Segment 1, which was opened in June 2023. Segment 2, covering Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport, Lagoon Drive, and Kalihi Transit Center, is planned to open October 1, 2025. Segment 3, covering the areas of Kalihi and Downtown, is planned to open in 2031, with an extension possible to Ala Moana Center. Skyline currently has stations in these areas: East Kapolei, U.H. West O'ahu, Ho'opili, West Loch Estates, Waipahu Transit Center, Leeward Community College, Pearl Highlands, Pearlridge, and Aloha Stadium. #Honolulu #SkylineHNL #Train #Rail #PublicTransportation #Oahu #Hawaii
