Lightning strikes within a small pond as is the same as the composition of this hexagram. There are a couple of fish in the pond, and they represent the liveliness of the lightning as well. The electricity of the lightning is confined within the pond, and it is also the case with the fish as well. This symbolizes that the power of yang is embranced within the scope of the power of yin. On the upper part of the illustration, however, there are waves. The pond is often considered a static image where the water is collected in one place. But in this hexagram, such a pond is starting to move, possibly due to the movement of the fish or the lightning. It symbolizes that the power of yang can create a new change to the power of yin as well. Overall, it symbolizes how following the power of different characteristics can create changes.
