This station will be located in a small mound, near a previously visited area. We will begin by performing a visual survey to confirm the presence of coral structures. If confirmed, we will map the mound using the ROV’s M3 system. The mapping area is a 120x120m box over the mound’s summit. After the video and multibeam surveys we will begin sampling. Then, we will be looking for invertebrates and fishes. We expect soft bottom during the entire dive. Specimen collection will include biological samples, water, sediments, and eDNA. Capturing high-quality images of the fauna is extremely important. The laser should remain on at all times unless directed otherwise by the lead scientist.
