Installing a C.R. Laurence Sprinter T-Vent window as part of our Do-it-yourself Mercedes Sprinter Van 140 conversion. HOW TO CUT OUT HOLES IN YOUR VAN FOR A WINDOW: • Video After getting our windows in and installing them we learned we were a little too careful when cutting out the metal. The window wasn't sitting flush, or we had to really push hard to get it in. It was catching in certain spots where the metal wasn't cut close enough to the OEM Stamping. So when they say cut to the OEM Stamping, they mean follow that line exactly. It really is a custom fit. We would put the window in and mark where it wasn't going in all the way with a sharpie and then use the grinder to grind some more and then file down the sharp edges and then try the window again. We really did this about 10 times for each window to get the perfect fit, and to be careful not to cut past the lines where the gasket of the window doesn't cover the hole. We couldn't find anywhere on line where it says how the gasket or the inside frame was suppose to fit. We thought if we pushed the window really hard from the outside it would work, but the inside metal frame wasn't sitting close to the window. there was a good 1/2 inch. This is not right. It really needs to sit flush, and it is possible for the window to sit right in the cuts without pushing. Once you get it to go in smooth. You did it! All you need to do after that is screw in the screws on the inside. Scott learned on the first one to take your time here. The metal bends very easily so you'll need to watch your drill, and keep going around and screwing them in all slowly until they're all time and secure. and thats it! ------------ Here are the windows we ordered.
