Fixing a rear door on 2nd GEN CUMMINS won't open The rear door on my 2nd gen 24 valve cummins would not open this morning. The bottom latch on the door appeared to be frozen up not allowing the rear door to release itself to open at all. After removing the interior door panel of the cummins from the inside of the truck, I decided to remove the actual handle and then was able to get ahold of the two connecting rods that attach to the upper and lower latches. I grabbed the rods with a set of pliers and pulled them both and the rear door of the 24 valve cummins popped right open. After reattaching the rods to the door handle and tweaking the way that they attach, to it, I put it back together and the rear door worked like new again. I can now get into the back seat of the 2nd gen cummins through the passenger side rear door again. So I hope this helps anybody who may run into this issue with their 2nd gen cummins or 2nd gen dodge truck that has a rear door the does not open! SUBSCRIBE for more truck content.
