How much cabin pressure is cinched into the form-fitting and beautiful seams of the kebaya? Part fuselage, part adventure course, and part exhibition, the gallery is transformed into an experience that explores the mythology constructed around the Singapore Girl. Adapting from the famed interview and training processes which prospective crew members endure, the interactive experience puts visitors through a gamut of tongue-in-cheek trials to see if they have what it takes to become a national icon. Singapore Girl & the Chamber of Trials and Tribulations was part of The Substation’s 2018 programme season, Cities change. People die. Everything you know goes away. The interactive experience took place from 6 October to 4 November 2018 at The Substation Gallery.
