Thank you for watching the Trance Tutorial 2019 | Trance Percussion Percussion again is an overlooked element on this channel up to this date so here we are with a trance tutorial on a track I have been restoring ready for release. This video shows me adding closed, open hihats, claps and loops. Starting with the trance loops I edit the flow of the loop removing the claps as these are not what I wanted in the track, Then we are left with gaps and with have some issues with clicks and pops where the sample ends abruptly. To sort this out simple fade the volumes using the triangles at the corners of the sample to fade in the audio thus removed pops because the volume is rising from 0 to full volume. In this particular instance another hat loop and some programmed hihats will cover the sound gaps and give character to the sound. However I add a little stereo delay to make things a little smoother. The second hat loop is the same, I take out the snares and and add volume fades to stop clicks and pops. Adding the programmed hats in is what's left to do and this is achieve by picking the sounds while the trance track is playing. This helps get context of whether the sample sounds right in the mix. A simple 16th rolling closed hat and an off beat open hat is what sorts the other sample gaps and a little sidechaining to give the illusion of volume changes on the rolling hats. Because that's what we do in this trance tutorial :) The clap sample is doubled with a white noise closed hat to add presence and was tamed a little once processed to take off the extreme highs making my ears hurt. Then some little blending and voila we have a percussion section helping drive the trance melody forward.
