Geylang Serai Light Up & Ramadan Bazaar 2023 has started! Titled Raya Gemilang and lasting a record-breaking 36 days till April 21, 2023, this year’s celebration has some 700 stalls, stretching all the way from Tanjong Katong Complex to Joo Chiat Complex. The main thoroughfares of the area are, of course, also bedecked with festive lights. After three years of cancelled and subdued celebrations, it’s really heartwarming to see the Ramadan festivities back to their full scale. The last time there were so many stalls was in 2019, which now feels like a hazy dream. But perhaps four years just flying away in a blink is also proof that horrid times (i.e. the pandemic) can be weathered given enough spirit.
