This song is about the realization that some struggles are not so easily subdued. Especially the battles of the mind. Sometimes we need help. And so, especially when we're young, we reach out to those closest to us. However, finding someone within our circle who has the right balance of knowledge, wisdom, and emotional intelligence is way harder than it sounds. Or sometimes the ones who do have it... don't exactly do it for free. And then, of course, it takes an immense amount of self-awareness and courage to actually convince yourself to be vulnerable and allow yourself to trust another person with your struggle... not to mention, how important it is to have a strong support system (or support person) to help you to help yourself find the right help. "I'm struggling with _______" "Well, have you tried not struggling with that?" "Silly me; now that you mention it...!" And so given the sheer amount of willpower and stars that need to align to "fix" our mind with external help, we're often left to our own devices. We try to sort things out ourselves. Yeah. Alone. Our mind. The phenomenal cosmic power in the itty bitty living space upstairs. Heartbreak. Shame. Addiction. Curiosities pursued to the point-of-no-return. The guilt that follows. The inability to say "I was wrong" or the lack of people who know how to hear a person say they were wrong and not be the type to rub-their-nose-in-it in a public broadcast...  One day, I'd love to start a semi-anonymous social media platform out of the Darkling Nightwatch. To watch out for each other in our darkest times. Emotionally, financially, spiritually... whatever is needed for people of all ages. Because the mind is the most powerful device in existence. And we're never really trained how to effectively use it. How to train and manipulate ourselves out of unhealthy habits and cycles. It's something that when I start my own private school one day (I used to be a grade-school teacher!), it'll be integrated into the curriculum. For now... it'll do my best to share what knowledge I have through poetry, songs, and self-help fantasy books like "Rise of the Morningstar". Thanks for listening! Want to see and hear more?
