Titans of the Miocene Circa 15 million years ago, much of New Jersey was submerged under a subtropical sea. Beneath those waters lived a remarkable array of marine life, from swift dolphins and ancient sharks to powerful predators that ruled the depths of the Miocene ocean. Titans of the Miocene brings this lost world back to life, exploring the creatures that once inhabited these seas and the ecosystem preserved in the sediments of the Kirkwood Formation. Through a cinematic underwater adventure, the film follows the journey of a curious prehistoric Kentriodon dolphin as it travels from the shallows into deeper waters, encountering the giants that dominated the ocean. From horseshoe crabs to graceful sea turtles… from swift predators like the thirty-three-foot giant mako… to the immense forty-four-foot Otodus chubutensis shark, this film offers a glimpse into the ancient seas of the Atlantic coast and is a tribute to these remarkable animals, both great and small.
