A Valentine's Day Composition: So this is what love sounds like?

With valentine's day drawing close, I thought there was no better emotion to depict through music than love. Following the earlier two emotions of Joy and Fun covered in the "Radiant" Wind Octet, the 3rd movement depicts one's experience going through Love. Inspired by the post-Romantic style of Rachmaninoff, this mini symphonic poem takes us through the trials and tribulations of the male protagonist, as he pursues and hopes for his infatuation to be reciprocated by his female lover. To begin, 3 themes are presented one at a time; his love theme, his anxious theme, and her charming theme. Once all the characters and emotions presented themselves, they start to intertwine in counterpoint, reflecting the mixture of emotions one feels when falling for someone. A brief battle with death ensues, but finally, the lovers' themes intertwine when the music culminates in its passionate climax. Following that deeply affectionate dance between the couple, the adrenaline wears off. An afterthought section depicts them expressing their love for each other in a more endearing manner, whilst the music silently fades away......
