FIRST Boeing 737-8 MAX Landing Melbourne Airport | Fiji Airways | DQ-FAB

The 23rd of December 2018 saw the arrival of Melbourne Airports first Boeing 737-8 MAX service. Fiji Airways took the honours operating DQ-FAB, currently their only 737-8 MAX, on the FJ931 Service from Nadi. It is certainly exciting to welcome aviations next generation of aircraft to Melbourne Airport. It goes without saying that the Fiji Airways livery is quite striking. The tail art is certainly indicative of the Fiji/Pacific Islands culture, something that when rebranding in 2012, would've been taken into account. Fiji Airways currently offer a daily service between Nadi Airport and Melbourne Airport. Predominantly operated by their Boeing 737-800 fleet, the occasional Airbus A330-200/300 does get subbed in. The FJ931/930 services operate during the hours of darkness; arriving at 2230 and departing at 2330 local time (during the summer daylight saving period).
