Different bullets have different velocity and weight, which affects their trajectory: high velocity rounds have flatter trajectory (MP7), heavier bullets lose less velocity and retain more energy over range (.357). Bullets can ricochet off surfaces and go through thin walls and props, losing velocity and bullet weight along the way. Damage against characters is dependent on body part being hit, angle, bullet velocity and mass (less kinetic energy dealing less damage). This makes half life 2 far more realistic and quite satisfying.
