When all five seats are occupied, the luggage compartment of the new A6 Avant has a capacity of up to 503 liters – depending on the engine selection, while the luggage compartment of the 5 Series has a capacity of 570 litres. This can be increased to 1,700 litres by fully folding down the rear seat backres, which can be split 40 : 20 : 40 as standard, while the A6 Avant luggage capacity increases only up to 1,534 liters. The MHEV plus mild hybrid technology drives play a key role in the outstanding driving experience. In addition to the 2.0 TDI four-cylinder with 150 kW (204 PS), the 3.0 TFSI six‑cylinder with 270 kW (367 PS) also features this type of partial electrification. With the aid of a BMWpatented pre-transmission between the rotor of the electric motor and the transmission input shaft, it is increased to an effective torque of up to 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), which is effectively applied to the engine-side transmission input.
