KIJIWENI: The Plight of Swahilis of Northern Mozambique

Swahili states formed a new moon-shaped region from south to north of the East African coast (Sofala to Mogadishu), whose indigenous peoples have social and cultural links. In the past, they were also politically and commercially integrated. What is happening today to the people of northern Mozambique is of great importance to all Swahili people of the East African coast, as these are their relatives. That is why in KIJIWENI today, we invited Shaaban Mutiwa, a native of northern Mozambique, to talk about the developments in his birthplace.
