scene is from S3E9 - Kafkaesque Graphics used (in order) - https://anticapital0.wordpress.com/ca... https://images.app.goo.gl/stsMLyCoijt... http://koleksyon-inip.org/marxism-is-... https://images.app.goo.gl/aJzPVVa9bid... https://www.google.com/amp/s/redstars... https://images.app.goo.gl/Ji7H8zuMVRi... https://stephaniemcmillan.org/what-is... https://images.app.goo.gl/zB8r8En9AY1... https://www.worldsocialism.org/wsm/20... i do not support the soviet union, or any dictatorship for that matter. i only went with the soviet anthem because i thought it was funny that jesse kind of looks like vladimir lenin when he shaves his head. and yes, i know jesse is not really in the right here in this scene. jesse and walt are not being paid the full 96 million because there are other people who need to be paid (the dealers distributing the product, the security, the people who built the lab, the people sourcing the ingredients, etc). but honestly it isn’t clear what percentage of the 96 million those other workers are getting either. 96 million is the total amount of revenue, i don’t know how much gus is getting in profit tbh i don’t think it’s ever specifically pointed out in the show. if the other workers aren’t getting a fair share they might have a reason to be upset but honestly walt and jesse here are both getting a huge cut, a much better cut than most workers receive under capitalism so genuinely jesse doesn’t have the right to complain here lmao. but on the flip side, most workers in most other industries would probably benefit from calculating their surplus value, i.e. how much profit they generated for the people who own the business they work for. jesse isn’t doing it correctly here, but the basic idea is when you go to work the work you’re doing is worth a certain amount of money and it’s in the business owners best interest to pay you less than what your work is worth so they can make a profit. with this exchange you are essentially spending a percentage of your time working for free. this is why it is in a lot of people’s best interest to unionize and negotiate for better wages, benefits, profit sharing, etc. unions can go on strike, and when workers withhold their labor business owners can’t make any money which forces them to realize the value of their workers and make concessions. i don’t think walt and jesse should’ve killed gus and done what they did, especially since like i already mentioned before they were already getting such a huge cut. i just think other people might benefit from thinking just a little bit like jesse here, although more intelligently.
