It carried two turrets — a main one with a 76.2 mm cannon and a smaller front one with a 45 mm cannon — to engage multiple targets. Tested in the 1939–40 Winter War, it was damaged by a mine and left in the field for months. Weighing over 55 tons, it proved too large and slow. Trials showed the single-turret KV-1 was far more effective, and the SMK project was cancelled. Only one was ever built, making it a rare “land battleship” of Soviet tank history.
