Walking the Northamptonshire Round - Stage 2 - Nobottle to Gayton

This second stage of our anticlockwise adventures walking the Northamptonshire Round saw us initially descend off the escapment from Nobottle into the pretty village of Harpole. We walked on Armistice Day and the bells of the church were ringing out. The trail took us across the dual carriageway, past new warehousing annd then under the M1 motorway. The path then took us past Heygates flour mill following the Nene Way for a short distance along the banks of the Nene river. The path then provided a fabuloius spot for lunch under an old oak tree. The path then leaves the Nene and heads into Bugbrooke village before joining the Grand Union Canal tow path. Following the tow path for a couple of miles was a tranquil experience periodically broken by the roar of passing trains. Then leaving the tow path you climb up onto the ridge and you can look back and see the route youve walked today. Breathtaking view. The path then heads into Gayton village.
