After fertilization in the Fallopian tube, the embryo moves naturally and freely into the endometrial cavity in about seven days. Tubal ectopic pregnancy occurs, if the embryo is stuck in the Fallopian tube for several reasons after fertilization and can not move into the endometrial cavity. The embryo continues growing in the tube and stretches the weak wall of the tube. The tube is not designed to host an embryo. If the embryo continues growing in the tube, after a certain amount of time the stretched wall of the tube breaks off with its vessels bleeding. This is called a ruptured ectopic pregnancy. Before this is going to happen, an ectopic can be diagnosed and treated with medications. But after intraabdominal bleeding has begun, the only option is surgery.
