🎹 The Godfather Theme – Nino Rota (arranged by Volker Söhl) 👉 Explore my PC2025 playlist:    • Variation VIII - Ah vous dirai-je maman  #...   In piece 27/40 of the piano challenge 2025 I’m playing the main theme (aka Speak Softly, Love) of the movie The Godfather as composed by Nino Rota and arranged by my piano teacher, Volker Söhl (I’ve been studying with him since July 2025). Volker gave me this piece as a specific exercise to work on agogic playing – not just dynamics, but also subtle variations in tempo to bring out the character of the music. The first part is quite easy – perfect for beginners – but the second part steps up to an intermediate level and even features a neat 2-against-3 polyrhythm (quarter notes in the right hand against triplets in the left). For the ending, I couldn’t resist adding my own twist to make it a bit more dramatic. Because of the exercise, I’ve played with more tempo variation than I normally would – it was fun to let the music breathe this way! This original Love Theme from The Godfather was composed by Nino Rota for Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 film. Its hauntingly romantic melody became an instant classic, capturing both the tenderness and the tragedy at the heart of the Corleone family saga. Over the decades, it has been arranged in countless versions and remains one of the most recognizable film themes ever written. I’ve recorded two versions of the piece (you’ll find chapters in the video): 1️⃣ Version with additional AI visuals, plus side and overhead camera shots. 2️⃣ Version with only the overhead view and Piano VFX falling notes visualization.
