Claude-Bénigne Balbastre (1724-1799) Joseph est bien marié, 2nd Noël from the 1ère Suite de Noëls. Recorded at the french baroque organ of the basilique Notre-Dame des Vertus, Aubervilliers (France). Claude-Bénigne Balbastre was a French organist, harpsichordist and composer, born in Dijon. He was organist at Saint Roch and Notre-Dame de Paris. He was also harpsichordist at the French royal court in Versailles, and organist at the Chapelle Royale. He was famous for his Noëls. So many people came every year to Saint Roch at Midnight Mass that the Archbishop of Paris had to prohibit him from playing, because of the noise and the lack of respect of the crowd...
