1977 Greenwood Marching Woodmen, Contest of Champions, Murfreesboro, TN, 6th Place

Leslie, Dan Rice Color Guard: Pam Smith(Wishmeyer) Percussion: Howard Finecy This is a partial video of Greenwood's preliminary performance at the Contest of Champions, Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN, making finals, finishing in 6th place. This was Greeenwood's first appearance at COC, where it was a finalist each year from 1977-1981. The COC competition in the 1970s was one of the country's most prestigious marching band competitions, featuring some of the midwest's and the country's finest marching bands, including COC's '75 and '76 champion, Lafayette High School, Lexington, KY(3rd place in '77), and reigning MBA(currently known as BOA) National Champion, Murray High School, Murray, KY(4th place in '77). This Greenwood band received 3rd place in Class A at the 1977 Indiana State Marching Band competition(currently known as ISSMA State Finals). Most of the opener of this performance was lost because the original film had deteriorated, causing several film breakages when it was transferred onto video tape. The footage in this video is all that was salvageable from this performance.
