The new DMO platform from BYD

DMO is a new automotive platform introduced with the first car of BYD’s new sub-brand, Fang Cheng Bao. DMO stands for "dual-mode off-road” as it is designed for off-road driving. It has a hybrid front powertrain using a 1.5-litre internal combustion engine and a pure electric rear drivetrain. The total peak power output of the powertrain is more than 500 kW. It is also equipped with a reduction gear and 3 differential locks for excellent off-road performance. The platform also features the BYD’s DiSus-P intelligent body control system taking care of active control of damping, ride height and other aspects of the vehicle. The battery design takes advantage of the cell-to-chassis (CTC) approach resulting in a more compact package. The vehicle allows for DC charging with up to 100 kW of power. Finally, the platform also supports “vehicle to load” (V2L) with output power up to 6 kW, which is particularly useful when camping.
