In this episode, we explored the abandoned Derry Girls school in Northern Ireland. The school was massive and was like a maze. After about an hour of exploring, we soon found ourselves lost and in an unknown corridor. It was pitch black and the only light we had was a single hand torch, as we approached the end of the corridor we noticed fresh footprints on the ground and the fear started to kick in. Not only were we worried if someone was there, I had also mentioned earlier that I had heard somebody walking, but brushed it off. Now this was the evidence that confirmed what I heard. Inside we found a multitude of surprises, including chemicals still stored inside their beakers, the cloud chambers used in the Science Labs, gas taps still intact and a number of old broadband exchanges still fitted to the walls. Some very famous names have once walked the halls of these schools which include Nadine Coyle of Girls Aloud, Collete Bryce esteemed poet, and of course, Lisa McGee, the famed creator of the TV Series, Derry Girls. The school, historically, was founded during the middle 1800s. It started out in the middle of Derry City. It was originally built within the walls of the city, but later migrated to the outskirts near the border after 1929, when the Sisters of Mercy purchased new land. The school officially opened in 1932 with a total of 120 students attending and a staff of seven Sisters and three teachers. In 2002, due to an increased attendance and demand, the school officially opened its new site, just opposite this old one. The school boasts a number of accolades, including being a Specialist in Mathematics and Physics, was ranked 17th out of 192 schools for its A Level performance and in 2017, it took the first place prize for the Northern Ireland School's Analyst Competition.
