Bass guitarist, composer, and initiator Teun Creemers (Netherlands, 1991) explores a wide range of musical genres, from blues to Latin to African music. With his band 'De Raad van Toezicht', he performed on major national stages, released two albums, got a Zilveren Notenkraker nomination, and appeared on national TV and radio programs, including De Wereld Draait Door. In 2014, Teun graduated as a bass guitarist from the ArtEZ Conservatory of Music in Arnhem, Netherlands Striving to maximize the flexibility of the bass guitar, Teun is dedicated to finding the perfect balance between different musical roles. With a fusion of West African styles and popular jazz and pop, his music becomes a captivating playground for exploration. You can hear that within his latest album, "Naamu", also referred to as "Malinke Groove Jazz". In order to create this world and crafting a unique blend of sounds, Teun worked together with producer Sebastiaan van Bijlevelt. They recorded the album at Galloway Studio in Nijmegen (NL) with additional sessions in Bamako, Boston, and Paris. Collaborated with talented African musicians like kamale n’goni player Harouna Samake and rising Malian singer Kankou Kouyaté. Teun plays with various bands and projects. Currently playing with Meika, a new-jazz formation, the punk jazz band SPUNK! and Life of Matheo (educational music for primary schools). We hope you enjoy his session!
