Bus drivers urge safety upgrades to combat workplace violence in King County

King County bus drivers are seeking to get a major safety upgrade for better protection while working their routes. The bus drivers union said the organization and King County Metro have been looking at safety partition prototypes for years, but are looking to streamline to process following the deadly stabbing of Metro bus driver Shawn Yim in December. "It’s absolutely critical. Our operators are mentally stressed. They’re afraid to come to work. After Shawn (Yims)’s brutal murder, this has completely come to a head," ATU 587 President Greg Woodfill stated.
