Indeed, VAT in Ukraine and the European Union share common characteristics in general, such as the cascading effect and common name. However, the mechanisms for administering value-added tax in EU countries significantly differ from the mechanisms implemented in Ukraine. This divergence makes VAT in our country fundamentally different from the way it is known in the European community.
