Teaching Gen Alpha is rough, but it's not the kids' fault! What’s happening in American classrooms is not just teacher burnout. It is a total collapse of discipline, childhood development, and educational integrity. Teachers like Kate are being pushed out of the profession, not because they stopped caring, but because the system has become unrecognizable and unsustainable. In this raw and eye-opening interview, Kate reveals the painful truth behind why she quit teaching. This is not about politics or pay. It is about fear, dysfunction, and a culture that has abandoned common sense in the name of misguided progress. 🚨 What’s REALLY happening in today’s classrooms? 👶 Gentle Parenting Gone Wrong A growing number of students are arriving at school with no concept of boundaries or authority. Modern parenting trends like "gentle parenting" are often taken to extremes, leaving kids emotionally fragile, entitled, and completely unprepared for structure or correction. Teachers are expected to parent, counsel, and discipline children who have never been told no. 💔 The Collapse of the Family Many children are growing up in fatherless homes with little supervision or emotional guidance. The absence of stable family structures leads to explosive classroom behavior, lack of empathy, and deep emotional instability. Teachers are expected to compensate for years of neglect with no support and no tools. ⚖️ Misapplied Social Justice and Equity Initiatives Concepts like equity and social justice have been twisted into harmful extremes. Students are allowed to cuss out teachers, flip desks, or physically threaten staff without consequences because of their "historical trauma" or "oppressed identity." Teachers are told to stay calm and "de-escalate" while being verbally and emotionally abused, in the name of social justice. Discipline is replaced with excuses, and classrooms are left in chaos. 👀 Two Extremes in Parenting On one side, some parents are completely absent. Their children come to school hungry, exhausted, and emotionally unstable, with no consequences at home. On the other side are parents who immediately threaten to sue the school over grades or discipline. Teachers are caught between parental neglect and entitlement, with no ability to correct behavior without fear of backlash. 🔴 Toxic Positivity and Coddling Culture Teachers are expected to smile and “stay positive” while navigating chaos. They are told not to grade in red ink because it might trigger students. Feedback is discouraged if it’s not “uplifting.” Instead of building resilience, students are being protected from reality. 📱 TikTok Trends, iPad Kids, and Screen Addictions Many students are addicted to screens and social media. TikTok trends encouraging antisocial behavior are entering the classroom. Kids are starting fires, sticking objects into outlets, and smearing graphite into Chromebooks just to go viral. Their entire world is online, and their ability to focus, empathize, or interact face to face is vanishing. 🎭 Fake SEL: Social Emotional Learning Without Real Roots Schools are trying to make up for the lack of emotional development at home through SEL, or Social Emotional Learning. But you cannot teach empathy and emotional intelligence in a 30-minute worksheet when students lack the foundation of real human connection and family structure. It becomes a checkbox, not a solution. 🎨 Cuts to Play, Arts, and Authentic Childhood Experiences While schools obsess over test scores, social justice slogans, and standardized initiatives, creative outlets like art, music, theater, and play are being eliminated. These were once the spaces where students learned confidence, teamwork, and emotional expression. Without them, students are left angry, disconnected, and directionless. 📉 Schools Are Becoming Unlivable for Teachers Kate didn’t leave because she was lazy. She left because staying meant sacrificing her mental health, her safety, and her values.
