In this video, we make a westbound journey on a London Underground S8 Stock Metropolitan Line train from Harrow-on-the-Hill to Uxbridge calling at all stations (West Harrow, Rayners Lane, Eastcote, Ruislip Manor, Ruislip, Ickenham, Hillingdon and Uxbridge). Harrow-on-the-Hill marks the meeting point of the Metropolitan Line branches to Uxbridge, Amersham, Chesham and Watford. The line runs parallel with the Piccadilly Line from Rayners Lane all the way to Uxbridge. In the past, Piccadilly Line trains only called at all stations to Uxbridge at peak times, terminating at Rayners Lane mostly, but increased demand in later years justified a full service to Uxbridge alongside the Metropolitan Line. In the future, there is a possibility that the Central Line could be extended to Uxbridge to alleviate road traffic congestion between Ealing and Hillingdon. The Hillingdon Council's proposals were considered by TfL but have not yet found the project be economically viable and it is up to the local council to prove that there is a strong business case for a Central Line extension.
