This is the Poath Rd level crossing in Hughesdale/Murrumbeena, on the Dandenong corridor, with footage I took in March 2017 (before), December 2017 (after) and March 2018 (after). This crossing has since been grade separated, with trains running over the new Poath road bridge on the 18th June 2018. In the months after I first filmed it in March 2017, this crossing was modified and upgraded to accommodate sky-rail during its construction. The new crossing had: Two General Signals E-Bells. Both bells were programmed to sound continuously until the boom gates rose. McKenzie & Holland cross-arms on all the crossing, except for the signal in the median strip on the southern end, which had a Westinghouse cross-arm on the upper set of lights facing Poath Rd, and the northern boom gate mechanism, which also had a Westinghouse cross-arm (which replaced a McKenzie & Holland cross-arm). The cross-bucks on this boom gate mechanism were installed on a new pole attached to the original New marked Westinghouse lights on all of the crossing. These lights replaced marked and unmarked Westinghouse lights. All lights were upgraded to LED's, when previously all lights were incandescent A McKenzie & Holland boom gate mechanism on the northern end and a WRRS boom gate mechanism on the southern end, both with McKenzie & Holland bases. The boom gate arm on the northern boom gate mechanism had a folding mechanism at the tip, which extended when the boom gate lowered and retracted when the boom gate rose. This was to prevent the arm from contacting with the overhead sky-rail bridge being constructed. Unmarked bases on all individual signals Hughesdale station has since been demolished to make way for grade separation works. As a result, the pedestrian crossing closest to the station was closed, and the gates were permanently in the 'closed' position. Their alarms were programmed not to sound anymore, either I have already uploaded a video of this crossing before, with its old infrastructure, so if you want to see more footage of the crossing, see that video: • Poath Rd Level Crossing, Hughesdale, Befor...
