🡇 Expand 🡇 Name: Wunderwaffle Creator: Sands ID: 89052310 There's been a few cases in the past where I've criticized 1.9 levels for numerous different things. For example, lacking enough decoration, pulses, etc. But few times have I actually showcased a great 1.9 level as an example of the opposite, which can serve to provide support for these criticisms. Wunderwaffle does an excellent job of this, being a recently rated insane 9*, and quite a fun one at that. Glitch Gremlin has been one of my favorite Geometry Dash songs for many years, and I'm glad it's seeing more use. The gameplay in this borderline demon is super enjoyable and pairs well with the song. It's like a dance between the beats; the drop of the song has a constant rhythm that contains high notes of the main melody at certain points, which are represented by large jumps. You can see an instance of this during the dual at 0:36; the inputs here are wide and open, which flows well with that section of the track. Since 1.9 levels generally can't offer the sheer amount of ridiculously intriguing decoration that 2.1 creations can, gameplay is an important element to cover for that, and I believe Sands did a fantastic job with this element! To talk about the decoration, I thought it was very well handled. Even though nothing moves, life is still generated through other means, mainly in pulses and vibrancy. The colors here are quite nice; all of the schemes work together in each section. The use of space is also masterful - it doesn't feel too full or too empty, yet there's adequate visual support for every part. For a 1.9 level that I would categorize as mainly gameplay focused, I think Sands hit the nail on the head with the style as well. As I mentioned, Wunderwaffle is already rated as a featured insane 9* - which I agree with. I'm glad to see this rating, because the insane 9* difficulty has been overshadowed by easy demons recently, and I personally think there needs to be a solid border between each. I wouldn't say that this compares to some of the more distinguished easy demons I can think of, and therefore should be rated as easier than one. The feature is also fitting; this isn't anything super special, but it's one of those levels I'll go back to when looking to have a blast in Geometry Dash. Very nice job overall Sands, you killed it with this one!
