Live at the Shibuya Public Hall, Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan. It might not be complete, and it might even be a mix from a early and late show, but the performance is still great. This might even be a board tape it sounds that good. Tape was obtained in a trade from a green bay "Packers" fan. Tim was told this show was "no copy" for years.... there is fade out at the end of "Jamming" due to the tape flip and no noise reduction or equalizing was done. tape transfer done by Tim Jones on 10-30-2005 ______________________________________ 𝐀𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The Japanese tour began at Shinjuku Kouseinenkin Hall on April 5 and lasted until April 13. Upon arrival, the band received new instruments from Japanese giant Yamaha, and Bob showed up for the encore of the first show proudly sporting his new Yamaha rhythm guitar. Bob also got a Yamaha tie and the members of the Wailers were given hoodies. The inside cover of the Japanese edition of Survival contains photos of Junior Marvin in his Yamaha jersey. Rita Marley: "Japan was memorable. We had a lot of press there saying how well they thought the country would be doing well ten years from now. How would it be dominating Japan. They adored Bob and Bob played a major role in their reggae absorption as they did." (Songs Of Freedom, Adrian Boot and Chris Salewicz, Bloomsbury) Once the promotional duties were completed, the band made some incredible performances in Japan. The crowds proved how the music broke the cultural barrier by singing in perfect English. The first show began with a long version of Positive Vibration, and was followed by a slow, brooding version of Concrete Jungle. The setlist made no concessions to the new territory; heavy versions of Them Belly Full, The Heathen and Running Away/Crazy Baldhead were met with as much enthusiasm as No Woman No Cry and Jamming. The first encore of the show began with a solid version of the War/No More Trouble medley, which Bob took straight to Get Up Stand Up with an extended instrumental first verse and then a stunning rendition of Exodus. A further performance at the same venue the next day was followed by two performances on April 7 at the Shibuya Public Hall in Tokyo, after which the band had a two-day rest period. On April 10, Bob and the Wailers played two shows at Nakano Sun Plaza Hall that featured some of the most interesting song renditions of the entire tour. Bob did several improvisations and scats, including a surprise sequence of Stir It Up into War in a show that momentarily catches the Wailers off guard. Another interesting improvisation that the band developed throughout these shows was the brief reprise at the end of I Shot The Sherrif that was performed to better effect at Sun Plaza. To top it off, the tour moved from Tokyo to Osaka.
