In this video, we explain the real story behind Chinese-made MA-60 and Y-12E aircraft given to Nepal Airlines through grant and soft loan agreements with China. After a Nepali study committee gave a positive report, Nepal received 2 aircraft as grant and 4 on soft loan, starting in 2014. But soon, serious problems appeared — high pilot training costs, expensive spare parts, insurance issues, delayed maintenance, and pilot shortages. Because of these issues, Nepal Airlines suffered huge operating losses. By 2076 BS, the aircraft were grounded. Even today, Nepal Airlines is paying parking, insurance, and loan-related costs, losing around NPR 49 crore every year. Overall, the total loss is estimated at NPR 8–10 billion.
