Hello, and Happy Canada Day!! Okay I know it's a little beyond Canada Day now but for those who celebrate Canada's National Day, I hope you had an amazing day. Here in Canada's Capital City of Ottawa the city throws one of the biggest city-wide street parties in the country. Millions flock to the downtown core of Ottawa on Canada Day to dance in the streets, enjoy fantastic musical shows, and partake in the walking of the closed down city streets enjoying the beautiful weather and fantastic vibes. Canada Day is the national day of Canada. It celebrates the anniversary of Canadian Confederation which occurred on July 1, 1867 when the three separate colonies of the United Canadas, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick Canada Day is often informally referred to as "Canada's birthday". In the national capital of Ottawa, concerts and cultural displays are held along with various community street events. Most come to wander the downtown streets for a once-a-year opportunity to wander freely across the city without vehicle traffic, and partake in the festivities. Today I'm starting off in the Byward Market checking out the booths, street dances and DJs, before wandering up to the Canadian Houses of Parliament to mingle with the crowds, before heading down to Lebreton Flats to have a peek at the main festival.
