PEOPLE POWER FRONT (PPF) LAUNCHED AS A NEW POLITICAL PARTY, WARNS KYAGULANYI OVER THEIR SYMBOLS

A group of individuals claiming to have registered People Power Front (PPF), a new political party, have unveiled it in Kampala this afternoon, with replicates of the slogan, symbol and red berets of the country’s leading opposition party, National Unity Platform (NUP). The group, which includes Hajj Musa Misango, who claims to be the PPF chairman, secretary general Spartan Mukagyi, and Central region chairman Robert Rutaro, stated that they registered PPF as a political party in August 2024. When contacted to confirm whether PPF was a registered party, the Electoral Commission’s Head of Public Relations and Spokesperson, Julius Mucunguzi, said he was unsure and would need to confirm the details before providing a response. NUP is currently led by Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, who initially founded the People Power movement, which is now used as a slogan for NUP
