A detailed description on how to repair the underwater driveshaft and gearbox of the BTR 185 retractable bow-thruster made by Quick. After 10 years of sailing the Med and North Atlantic both my bow and my stern thrusters (both Quick BTR 185) failed. It turned out that salt water found its way into the gearbox and driveshaft. Most bearings, seals and clips where severely corroded. This video describes how to take the unit apart, repair the bearings, seals and clips and re-assemble the unit again. I am not a professional mechanic and had to "learn on the job".... so keep that in mind while watching...
